Rikkie Valerie Kolle (22), became transgender first to win and crowned Miss Netherlands. He claimed to be a victim of hate speech online or online.
Reporting from Reuters, Thursday (14/7/2023), Kolle said he had become the target of hate speech after winning the Miss Netherlands competition, aged 94, last week. In an interview, she tries to concentrate on good comments, rather than hurtful comments on social media.
“I think we are really welcome… in the Netherlands, but the hate comments show a different side of our society. I hope that serves as a warning,” he told Reuters.
“For now, I’m completely ignoring it. I’m focused on the good things to come.”
According to him, the negative comments were groundless, he continued, adding people insulted him for being who he was.
“I just wanted to show the world Rikki and of course my trans story, and get criticized because it’s really sad.”
Now, she is going to participate in the Miss Universe pageant. If she wins, she will become the first transgender woman to claim the title.
