Rīgas satiksme will continue to compensate for the losses caused during the emergency

On Thursday, August 6, the Riga City Council interim administration decided to allocate 906,705 euros from the reserve fund to the municipal company “Rīgas satiksme” to compensate for losses incurred during the emergency situation caused by Covid-19 in May.
During the emergency situation, the revenue from ticket sales decreased significantly for Rīgas satiksme, as the flow of passengers decreased by 75% due to restrictions, as well as revenue from parking services decreased significantly. Additional costs were also incurred due to the need to disinfect vehicles and provide transport for repatriation passengers.
It has already been reported that in order to compensate the company’s losses from March 13 to April 30, the Riga City Council’s interim administration previously allocated 2.3 million euros.
The Riga City Council’s interim administration also decided to allocate 35,405 euros to the Welfare Department to cover the costs of purchased protection and disinfection products related to the implemented disease prevention measures to limit the spread of Covid-19 during an emergency.
