An irreplaceable part of the Riga IFF program is the festival’s competitions – the epicenter of the search for bold and innovative cinema. In total, more than 2,000 applications for film works were submitted for participation in Latvia’s largest film festival and Riga IFF competitions this season. After the careful work of the selection commissions, 84 cinematographic works were selected in seven categories, which were handed over to the evaluation of the festival’s juries – foreign and local industry experts. They will select laureates from the Baltic Sea region and the Nordic feature film competition, the best international and national short film, as well as award the best music video from the Baltics. Awards will also be given to full-length and multi-series, as well as short film projects included in the “Riga IFF Forum” industry section of the festival.
The makers of the nominated films, representatives of the national and international juries, as well as the festival team, film industry professionals and spectators will gather in the Great Hall of the “Splendid Palace” cinema. You will be able to follow the award ceremony from 20.30 on the live broadcast of the LSM.lv portal.
The festival is created with the support of the State Cultural Capital Fund, the European Union program “Creative Europe – MEDIA”, Riga City Council and the National Cinema Center.
