The moment was captured in a video that went viral on social media. In the one-minute recording, Anies was accompanied by his wife, Ferry Farhati, to meet Ridwan and his wife, Atalia Prataya.
In the video, Anies, wearing a gray koko shirt and black cap, immediately hugged Ridwan Kamil. Ridwan Kamil was seen unable to hold back his tears when Anies hugged him.
Anies was then seen calming Ridwan Kamil in his arms. The former Minister of Education and Culture in the Joko Widodo era was also seen several times conveying something to Ridwan.
Member of the Executive Board of the West Java Development Acceleration Team (TAP Jabar) Lia Endiani confirmed the viral video.
“Yes, that’s right, it was during the takziah,” said Lia when confirmed, Wednesday (8/6).
As is known, Anies visited the West Java Governor’s Office House at the Pakuan Building, Bandung City, Monday (6/6) night. Anies condolences to Ridwan Kamil for the death of his son, Emmeril Kahn Mumtadz or Eril.
Together with his wife, Fery Farhati, Anies arrived at the Pakuan Building at 19.30 WIB. He was received directly by Ridwan Kamil and his wife, Atalia Praratya.
“I express my condolences for our personal families and the entire community of Jakarta. Of course we heard stories of many things about this incident which opened our eyes to the many good things that Eril has done that have only emerged now,” said Anies.
