Rick Engelkes will be responsible for the financial support his company received for the not yet existing musical William of Orange disclose. That’s what the former actor promised in talk show RENZEafter there was a fuss last week about the 4.3 million euros for his company Waterfront Entertainment.

The controversy arose after the publication of an article by the Noordhollands Dagblad. The newspaper reported that Engelkes’ company had received 4.3 million in corona support for William of Orange, but that the musical never materialized. It was unclear what happened to the money, the newspaper said. The former actor emphasized that all the conditions for the application have been met.

In front of William of Orange a new theater must be built in Delft. So far there are only piles in the ground, because there is no permit. According to Engelkes, 1 million euros of the amount paid out has been spent.

That money went to, among other things, the piles in the ground, a model and the hall, which is being built abroad, the producer said on Monday. “The musical does exist, but it is not there yet”, Engelkes explained. “We have always continued to invest and develop.”
