Rheinbahn to Introduce New Rheintakt Timetable with Numerous Route Changes

The Rheinbahn will start running the Rheintakt when the timetable changes on Sunday, January 7th. There are numerous changes on almost all routes. A uniform timing scheme should make the timetable easier to understand.

In addition, connections are improving on many lines and the trains are more closely aligned with the S-Bahn offerings. By linking similarly strong lines, the Rheinbahn wants to use vehicles in a more targeted manner and thus optimize the space available for passengers.

The focus of the new offer is a uniform basic schedule on all city and tram lines: the trains run every ten or 20 minutes from Monday to Friday from around 5 a.m. to around 8:30 p.m. and on Saturdays between around 9 a.m. and 8:30 p.m the rest of the time every 15 or 30 minutes. The only exception to this is the U70 line. The changes on all lines in detail:

In the Düsseldorf city area, journeys begin at the “Handelszentrum/Moskauer Straße” stop. In the morning and evening the trains run between Düsseldorf and Krefeld in both directions. Additional trips between 7 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. in the direction of Krefeld and between 4 and 6 p.m. in the direction of Düsseldorf ensure a 20-minute frequency. These trips were previously offered by the U76 light rail line.

Coming from “Rath S”, the trains run a new route from the “Bilk S” stop over the previous route of the U72 line to the final stop “Hellriegelstraße”. Monday to Friday between 4 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. and Saturdays between 9 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. the trains run every 20 minutes, outside of these times every 30 minutes and then, coming from Hellriegelstrasse, end at the “Heinrichstrasse” stop. . Together with the U83 line, there are ten and 15-minute intervals between the stops “Uhlandstraße” and “Hellriegelstraße”. The U71 line is no longer part of the night express service.

Coming from Ratingen, the trains run from the “Bilk S” stop over the previous route of the U71 line to the final stop “Benrath Betriebshof”. This creates a better distance between the U72 and U73 lines on the route between the “Schlüterstraße/Arbeitsagentur” and “Südpark” stops. There is also a connection to the U76 line at all times at the “Holthausen” stop. As part of the night express service, the trains run every 30 minutes on the nights from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m.

The U74 line will be discontinued and the U76 line will take over the journeys.

The trains run in the new basic schedule and as part of the night express service on the nights from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. every 30 minutes.

The trains run in the Düsseldorf city area using the new basic schedule. Coming from Krefeld, the trains run from the “Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof” stop over the previous route of the U74 line to the final stop “Holthausen”, thus covering the route of the previous U74 line. As part of the night express service, the U76 line runs every 30 minutes between the “Holthausen” and “Lörick” stops on the nights from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m.

The trains run from Seestern from the “Hauptbahnhof” stop along the U75 line to the final stop “Lierenfeld Betriebshof”. This will relieve pressure on the U75 line between the “Belsenplatz” and “Lierenfeld Betriebshof” stops. This line still does not run on Sundays and public holidays.

Coming from Düsseldorf city center, all trains, with a few exceptions, run through to the “Universität Ost/Botanischer Garten” stop. As part of the night express service, the trains run every 30 minutes between the “Wittlaer” and “Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof” stops on the nights from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m.

Coming from Gerresheim, the trains run from the “Bilk S” stop along the previous route of the U72 line to the final stop “Hellriegelstraße”.

Coming from Rath, the trains run from the “Berliner Allee” stop along the route of the previous line 705 to the final stop “Vennhauser Allee”. This allows the Rheinbahn to specifically use vehicles with greater capacity.

Coming from Merziger Straße, the trains only run to the “Universität Nord/Christophstraße” stop on Sundays and public holidays. Alternatively, you can use the U79 line to “University East”.

The trains run from Spichernplatz and Unterrath from the “Berliner Allee” stop along the previous route of line 701 to the final stop “Am Steinberg”. This allows the Rheinbahn to specifically use vehicles with lower capacity.

The buses are no longer in use on Saturdays.

On the nights from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday there are two additional trips, at 12:49 a.m. and 1:49 a.m., from the “Mettmann-Zentrum S” stop to the “Mettmann-Stadtwald S” stop. This creates a better connection to the S-Bahn.

The buses run on Saturdays from the “Ratingen-Lintorf, Church” stop to the “Ratingen-Lintorf, Rathaus” stop.

The buses that end at the “Vennhauser Allee” stop on Sundays and public holidays will be extended to the “Holthausen” stop.

The previous journey at 3:21 p.m. from the “Angeraue” stop to the “Klemensplatz” stop starts at 3:17 p.m. from the “Duisburg, Rahm S” stop.

On Sundays and public holidays, the journey from Unterrath is extended to the “Theodor-Heuss-Brücke” stop in the morning.

A joint service will operate every ten minutes between the “Vennhauser Allee” and “Ickerswarder Straße” stops. Two additional trips are offered on bus line 735 on the nights from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday: The first additional trip starts at 12:34 a.m. from the “Vennhauser Allee” stop to the “Erkrath, Neuenhausplatz” stop, the second at 1:08 a.m p.m. from the “Erkrath, Neuenhausplatz” stop to the “Vennhauser Allee” stop.

All journeys now end at the “Am Püttkamp” stop.

The buses no longer run via Knittkuhl.

On Mondays to Fridays, the current trip starts at 4:45 a.m. from the “Ratingen Ost S” stop to the “Ratingen, Dieselstraße” stop at 4:35 a.m.

As part of the night express service, the buses run every 60 minutes on the nights from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m.

All buses on line 784 end at the “Benrath S” stop. Bus number 730 takes you the rest of the way to the “Josef-Kürten-Platz” stop.

On Mondays to Thursdays and Sundays and public holidays, the current journey starts at 1.30 a.m. from the “Lierenfelder Straße” stop until 1.39 a.m. to ensure better connections to line 810.

On Mondays to Thursdays and Sundays and public holidays, the previous trip starts at 12:37 a.m. at the “Hauptbahnhof” stop and only at 12:47 a.m. for better connections to line 730 at the “Eckener Straße” stop.

On Mondays to Thursdays and Sundays and public holidays, the previous journey starts at 12:57 a.m. at the “Eckener Straße” stop until 1:09 a.m. to ensure better connections to line 730.

On Mondays to Thursdays and Sundays and public holidays, the previous journey at 1.38 a.m. from the “Hauptbahnhof” stop will be moved to 1.43 a.m. The trip at 12:38 a.m. from the “Hauptbahnhof” stop is cancelled.

On Mondays to Thursdays and Sundays and public holidays, the previous trips start at 1:06 a.m., 1:36 a.m. and 2:06 a.m. at the “Lierenfeld Betriebshof” stop for better connections to line 805 at 1:08 a.m., 1:38 a.m. and 2:08 a.m.

On Mondays to Fridays, the previous journey at 5.32 a.m. from the “Südpark” stop will be moved to 5.37 a.m. to provide better connections to the U72 line.

All changes to the timetable change are stored in the timetable information and in the Rheinbahn app. Answers to all questions are available around the clock on 0800 6 50 40 30 (toll-free from all German networks).
