Revitalizing the Portes de France Thionville and Val de Fensch Community Headquarters: A Sustainable Architectural Transformation

Thirty months, not one more. This is the time remaining for the Portes de France Thionville and Val de Fensch conurbations to harmonize their practices before their union. This path also takes a necessary step: that of thinking about the future headquarters of the large community. Several months ago, the choice fell on the former premises of the CCI, Cormontaigne area, in Thionville-Yutz. The deal was closed recently and today another milestone is reached. A jury of elected officials selected the proposal of the Alsatian architectural firm Ajeance to give a facelift to the existing building and consider an extension to the rear. Because, in this large liner visible from the A31, there is work to rethink the spaces, gain square meters in order to house the services and bring the building up to current standards.

The model of the project gives an overview of the requalification to come. Ecology and energy savings are the common thread of the project. First, the existing building will be better insulated; Photovoltaic panels will be installed on the roof. The facade will undergo a facelift worthy of the name. At the front, the car park will be retained, but on draining ground; new trees will be planted. The extension imagined at the back will have a wooden frame and will feature a green roof. The building will be organized around a central open-air patio, planted with trees and vegetation.

For the moment, 130 offices have been imagined, but the project is still likely to evolve according to the choice of services to be established here.
