Review: HP Pavilion Aero 13-be2000 – A Highly Recommended Lightweight Notebook PC

Rental provided by Japan HP Co., Ltd.

I rented a lightweight notebook PC, HP Pavilion Aero 13-b, released by HP Japan, and will review it.

In conclusion, this is a highly complete mobile notebook PC that can be recommended for students who are about to enter higher education, business people, and for home use.

You won’t regret buying it because the machine power, monitor, interface, keyboard, etc. are all very satisfactory performance.

Features

HP Pavilion Aero-13b is a lightweight notebook PC that uses a magnesium alloy body and weighs less than 1kg.

The 2023 model is equipped with AMD’s Ryzen 7000 series. This greatly enhances graphics performance.

Although it is a mobile notebook PC, it is a high-performance model that can perform photo editing and video editing.

In addition to performance, the brightness and color gamut of the built-in monitor, and the feel of the keyboard, all boast a level of perfection comparable to that of higher-grade notebook PCs.

However, since the price is low, it is a machine with very high cost performance.

A lightweight model that uses magnesium alloy for the main body.

The HP Pavilion Aero 13-be 2023 model uses HP’s premium logo, which should be used more than the ENVY series, and is designed to increase the desire to own it.

Unlike general logos, it has a simple and luxurious design that makes you want to pick it up.

The previous model had a design like this.

Adopts AMD Ryzen processor with significantly enhanced Radeon Graphics

HP Pavilion Aero 13-be 2000 is equipped with AMD’s Ryzen processor.

The top model that we were able to rent this time was equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 7735U processor. The built-in graphics chip is the Radeon 680M, which is familiar from the RDNA2 architecture used in PS5.

In fact, this GPU is so powerful that it can run even simple games in full HD, and of course it can also comfortably perform image and video editing.

The HP Pavilion Aero 13-be is a notebook PC that is classified as relatively low-priced, but by installing a Ryzen processor, it can demonstrate higher performance than models equipped with an Intel CPU.

Price and how to choose

The lowest grade of HP Pavilion Aero 13-be 2000 has less memory and storage, with 8GB of memory and 256GB of SSD.

Even if you’re trying to narrow down your budget, I don’t really recommend this configuration.

I think you should choose the middle or top model. The difference is the CPU.

Ryzen 7 7735U can demonstrate extremely high performance with a maximum operating frequency of 4.75Ghz. Also, since it has 8 cores and 16 threads, it has an advantage over Ryzen 5 when it comes to multitasking. However, even if you use it hard for office work or video calls, I think Ryzen 5 will be sufficient. The bigger difference is in the built-in graphics.

The cores of Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 graphics chips are twice as different. Of course, the performance is twice as good, so if you’re thinking of trying out video editing or gaming, choose Ryzen 7 without any questions. On the other hand, if your purpose is to use it for work such as office work, Ryzen 5 is a better option.

design

The main body is made of magnesium alloy and has been processed to give it a smooth feel.

The color is ceramic white. Recommended for those looking for a clean PC.

The size is approximately 298mm wide x 209mm deep x 18.9mm high. It’s about the same size as an A4 notebook, so it’s easy to put in your bag.

The actual weight is approximately 993g.

A 65W type AC adapter is included. The weight is about 316g. You can also charge it with a 65W USB-C charger if you have one.

monitor

The monitor size is 13.3 inches.

It has a 16:10 aspect ratio, so it has a wider work area and is easier to work with than a 14-inch full HD resolution.

Color gamut

The color gamut of the monitor had 100% sRGB coverage.

It is a very bright panel with a maximum brightness of about 422 nits according to the measuring device I have. Also, this panel was made by AUO, a group company of BenQ in Taiwan, a monitor manufacturer that I personally feel is of high quality, so it’s easy to recommend it to others.

keyboard

The keyboard is a JIS layout. A full-size scale keyboard with a key pitch of approximately 18.7mm is used.

The dissatisfaction is that there is an additional key placed to the right of the enter key, and that point continues this year as well.

The keys have a clicky feel when you type, and you feel like you can hit the keys firmly.

Also, the touchpad feels good when pressed, which is good for a mobile notebook PC.

interface

left side

HDMIUSB-AUSB-C (USB 3.2 Gen2) audio jack

right side

The DC jack for charging your PC is on the right side. It is possible to charge the PC itself with the USB-C on the left, but if you use one for charging, you can only use two USB-A, so if you need it separately, you may want to purchase a USB-C hub etc. .

performance

Cinebench R23

Cinebench R23 is benchmark software that measures CPU performance. The higher the score, the higher the performance.

Multi-core performance is 9043ptss, single core is 1525pts.

Both multi-core performance and single-core performance were less favorable than the Core i7 1360P, but there seems to be no difference in experience when it comes to office work.

PCMark 10

PCMARK 10 is a benchmark test that runs Microsoft Office compatible software, video conferencing software, image editing software, video cutting, etc. using badge files and scores how comfortable they are.

The essentials are launching apps and browsing the web, the middle is Word and Excel, and the right is the score that shows the ease of creating content.

With a total score of over 6000 points, you can comfortably browse the web, use Microsoft Office, and edit images.

PC temperature and fan noise

I checked the CPU temperature and operating frequency with Cinebench R23’s 10minute test.

The maximum CPU temperature was around 80 degrees, and the average core clock was running at around 2.5GHz.

The temperature is constant and very stable.

surface temperature

The surface temperature of the PC was 40.9° during the benchmark test. I don’t think it will cause bass burns, but it does get quite hot.

This verification was a test where the CPU usage rate was 100%, so I don’t think the sound will be this high unless you use it very hard.

Loudness of fan rotation noise

The fan rotation noise during benchmark execution was about 39.8db. I think it’s pretty quiet for a mobile laptop.

However, since the diameter of the fan is small, I think the sound is a little harsh.

Summary A versatile lightweight mobile notebook PC that students and business people should consider first, and also recommended as a sub-machine for creators.

There are negative points about the fact that it still uses a DC jack and the placement of the key to the right of the enter key on the keyboard, but it is extremely high quality for a notebook PC that costs around 100,000 yen.

The monitor’s wide color gamut makes it suitable for editing photos and videos for web content.

Above all, it is lightweight, weighing less than 1 kg, and the size is the same as an A4 notebook, so you can easily carry it in your bag.It has the performance and functions necessary for a mobile notebook PC, so I would like students and business people to consider it first. 1 unit.

In terms of performance, the Ryzen 7 7735U has specs that can barely withstand everything from simple video editing to RAW development on high-resolution devices, so it is also recommended for creators who are considering using it as a sub-PC.

For home use, portable and mainly used at work → Ryzen 5 16GB memory equipped model

We also create content → Ryzen 7 16GB equipped model

I think it’s good.

The disadvantages are below

Keyboard layout: DC jack, so carrying an AC adapter will ruin the light weight and onboard memory cannot be expanded.

This is a point of concern.
