What’s on offer?

AndChips, a Dungarvan fish and chip shop that prioritizes sustainability, was named Takeaway of the Year 2023 and also won the Champion Chip award. Opened by RTÉ personality Eunice Power in 2019, the smart takeaway on the Quays in Dungarvan offers a variety of menu items.

AndChips uses wild Irish fish, including hake, haddock, ling, plaice, cod, and whiting from Boatstrand in Waterford, as well as prawns from Ballycotton. The chips are made from potatoes grown by Colin Ryan in Ballinacourty.

In addition to fish, the menu features tacos, burgers in Waterford blaas, chicken in brioche buns, and Korean chicken wings. Wine is also available for purchase to complement your meal. AndChips encourages customers to participate in waste segregation, and a new bin system will be installed soon.

What did we order?

We ordered ling goujons and fish tacos from the fish menu.

How was the service?

The service at AndChips is excellent. Customers order at the counter and wait for their number to be called. There are a few stools by the window and picnic tables outside.

Was the food nice?

The ling goujons are amazing, with strips of ling in a delicious golden batter alongside homemade tartar sauce, mushy peas, and crispy chips. The tacos are also generously sized and feature haddock in a light batter. Minor critiques include the preference for a corn tortilla and a more robust salsa.

What did it cost?

Our lunch for two cost €20 for ling goujons and chips and a haddock fish taco.

Where does it deliver?

AndChips is takeaway only and orders must be made in the shop. The shop is open daily with varying hours.

Would I order it again?

Absolutely! The delicious food and reasonable prices make AndChips a must-try.
