A number of PPP Regional Governing Councils (DPWs) have declared Ganjar as a 2024 presidential candidate. These include DPW South Sulawesi, Banten and North Sumatra.

In fact, he said, the chairman of the PPP Branch Management Board (DPC) in Purbalingga Regency is Ganjar’s brother-in-law. Arsul said Ganjar’s father-in-law was also a PPP figure in Purbalingga.
“GP is really close to PPP. GP’s wife’s family is the PPP family in Purbalingga. Also the President of the DPC PPP Kab. Purbalingga is GP’s brother-in-law, because mbakyu’s wife is GP. His father-in-law is a PPP figure there, ”Arsul said Time, Sunday 9 October 2022.
However, Arsul said that DPW’s declaration of support for Ganjar was the aspiration of a number of regions. The PPP Central Leadership Council (DPP), Arsul said, did not open the tap of communication with any figure associated with the presidential election, including Ganjar.
According to him, the PPP will hold an official deliberation forum to decide which presidential candidates and vice presidents will be promoted. Currently, Arsul said, his party is still listening to voices from below as a form of internal democratization within the PPP.
“We have no intention of setting up an official deliberation forum, namely Mukernas, for the presidential candidate. So I don’t feel the need to rush things right now,” he said.
Earlier, on Saturday 8 October 2022, the North Sumatra PPP DPW declared support for Ganjar to run for president for 2024. North Sumatra PPP DPW chief Jaffarudin Harapan assessed that Ganjar was part of the PPP family and he had a good resume.
The declaration event was opened directly by the acting President General of the PPP, Muhamad Mardiono. In line with Jaffarudin, Mardiono said Ganjar was part of the PPP because some of his family members were leaders in the PPP.
“Pak Ganjar is part of our leaders and the large PPP family because his father-in-law is a kiai who until the end of his life in PPP. So, his brother-in-law is also a member of the PPP faction in Central Java, “Mardiono said on Saturday, October 8, 2022.
Mardiono explained that his party is still selecting support from the grassroots before determining which presidential candidates and vice presidents will be promoted. Subsequently, this pair will be subjected to the coalition. The PPP is currently a member of the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) with the Golkar Party and the National Mandate Party (PAN).
“Later, we wait for the others to speak. We will bring the majority vote to KIB. Currently, it is still a selection. We are waiting for a strong undercurrent because democracy is built and sovereignty is in the hands of the people,” he said.
