Revealed, Secret Service Delete Text Messages During Capitol Riot

Washington DC

Presidential Guard United States of America (USA) or commonly called Secret Service caught deleting text messages from January 5-6 2021, when The Capitol building is hit by riots triggered by supporters of the former President Donald Trump.

As reported CNNFriday (15/7/2022), it was revealed in a letter given to the elected commission House of Representatives (HOR) or the US House of Representatives, which is investigating the incident at the Capitol Building which is referred to as the ‘rebellion’. The letter was originally sent to the Homeland Security Commission of the US House and Senate by the Inspector General of the US Department of Homeland Security.

According to the letter, the Secret Service deleted a number of messages dated January 5-6 2021 shortly after being requested by surveillance officials investigating the Secret Service’s response to the rioting at the Capitol at that time.

The letter stated that the messages were removed from the system as part of a device replacement program after inspectors asked the Secret Service to hand over recordings and records of its electronic communications.

“First, the Department informed us that many U.S. Secret Service text messages from January 5 and 6, 2021, were deleted as part of the device replacement program,” said the letter from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Inspector General Joseph Cuffari.

“The USSS (US Secret Service) deleted the text messages after OIG (Office of the Inspector General) requested electronic communication records from the USSS, as part of an evaluation of the events at the Capitol Building on January 6,” the letter added.

“Secondly, DHS personnel repeatedly informed OIG examiners that they were not permitted to provide records directly to OIG and that such records should first be reviewed by DHS attorneys,” Cuffari wrote in the letter.

“This review triggered weeks of delay within OIG to obtain records and sparked confusion as to whether all records had been produced,” Cuffari said in the letter.
