Reutlingen Delegation Visits Twin Town of Reading in Pennsylvania – Reutlinger General-Anzeiger – gea.de

REUTLINGEN. In 2023, Reutlingen’s twin city of Reading in Pennsylvania will celebrate its 275th anniversary. A four-strong Reutlingen delegation headed by Lord Mayor Thomas Keck traveled to the USA to kick off the celebrations.

City councilor Njeri Kinyanjui, city councilor Wolfgang Göbel and the head of the city twinning department in Reutlingen’s cultural office, Ulrich Track, accompanied the mayor. In addition to the anniversary celebrations, the guests from Reutlingen had the opportunity to get to know Reading better as an educational, cultural and business location.

At the »275th Anniversary Gala« in the Reading Public Museum, Keck honored the former Mayor of Reading, Tom McMahon, with the Medal of Merit of the City of Reutlingen for his many years of commitment to the town twinning between Reading and Reutlingen. “You are the most important contact person for our cultural office in Reading,” said the Lord Mayor, “we would be delighted if you would continue to support our town twinning for a long time to come”.

For the 2023/24 school year, the exchange of students is to take place again for the first time since the corona pandemic. Mayor Eddie Moran emphasized the importance of the town twinning with Reutlingen. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the town twinning, he is expected in Reutlingen in July together with a delegation from Reading. The town twinning with Reading was established in 1998 and is the most recent town twinning association. (a)
