Reunion with the audience – International Star Festival concerts in Liepaja / Article

On the first weekend of July, the concerts of the Liepāja International Star Festival were performed in person at the Liepāja Concert Hall “Lielais dzintars”, which were postponed from summer to their summer time, the organizers informed. The second part of the festival will follow at the end of the summer.

On Thursday, July 1, in the evening of Latvian vocal chamber music, pianist Agnese Egliņa, winner of the “Great Music Prize 2020”, and singers Ilze Grēvele-Skaraine and Rinalds Kandalincevs met with the audience, performing music applied with the scents of Latvian summer.

Pianist Georgy Osokin gave his solo concert on Friday night. The audience enjoyed the piano music of Frederic Chopin – dreamy, windy and masculine.

On Saturday, the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra met with its listeners in person, this time under the direction of conductor Atvars Lakstīgala. The second piano concert of Johannes Brahms, saturated with symphonic scope, was performed by pianist Reinis Zariņš. In the second part of the concert, Lithuanian soprano Vida Miknevičute demonstrated her voice in the world-famous opera arias Verdi, Puccini and Wagner.

The second part of the 29th Liepāja International Star Festival will take place at the end of August. On August 26, you will be able to enjoy the music of Georgian master Gija Kancheli, who strongly inspired not only the musicians of the Xylem Trio, but also the rising Georgian jazz star Lisa Kereselidze. But on August 27, together with the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra and maestro Gintars Rinkevičs, tenor Alexander Antonenko will take the stage of the “Big Amber” to play a monumental program of popular opera music.
