Joshua Zirkzee, on loan from FC Bayern to RSC Anderlecht, has questioned a return to Munich and has thus made a change of heart.
“I get minutes here, that was my goal. I don’t think it makes much sense to return to Bayern after a season in which I’ve played a lot,” Zirkzee told the Dutch TV and radio station NOS News.
The 20-year-old striker, who was loaned out to Belgium by FC Bayern in the summer of 2021 and is still under contract in Munich until 2023, had made a different statement just over a month ago.
“I still hope that one day I will become an important Bayern player. After the season I will return to Bayern. Where I will play after that depends on the prospects of match practice, because that is the most important thing for me,” he said Dutchman at that time in an interview with SPOX and GOAL explained.
Things are going well for Zirkzee in Anderlecht this season. He made 38 competitive appearances under coach Vincent Kompany, recording 15 goals and nine assists. In the Jupiler Pro League, however, Anderlecht only ranks fifth.
