Retailers have raised prices for the GeForce RTX 3060 even before it hits the market

Retailers for GeForce RTX 3060 graphics cards have significantly increased prices for the model, which will still be released on the market on February 25th. According to the internal rules of NVIDIA, the manufacturer expects that the first batch of new video cards will be sold at the recommended retail price, but the current market situation, spurred by demand from crypto-raiders, dictates its terms.

Typically, retailers accepting pre-orders must fulfill them within days, and sometimes weeks, with the price unchanged before the graphics card launches. Unfortunately, it is common for retailers to cancel pre-orders after cards are issued, only to force customers to re-order the same card at a significantly higher price. NVIDIA has little ability to influence this situation – except to severely limit shipments to a specified store or distributor in the future.

Meanwhile, European retail chain ProShop, which operates in several European countries, decided to go further and began offering cards at higher prices even before anyone could order them at suggested retail prices. Proshop now offers the GeForce RTX 3060 at a minimum price of € 499 or PLN 2,799. This is a significant markup considering that the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) in Europe is € 329 or PLN 1,599. This is, respectively, 52% and 75% more than the RRC.

Proshop is not the only store trying to take advantage of the scarcity of new graphics cards. In fact, price hikes for as-yet-unreleased RTX 3060 graphics cards have been seen in Europe for over a week. For example, the PCDiga website has the same situation for the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3060.
