Restrictions in Saxon rail traffic from the weekend

Several construction sites will cause delays and train cancellations in rail traffic from Saturday, also in Saxony. According to the Deutsche Bahn, passengers have to be prepared for up to 60 minutes longer travel times and fewer trains by December 12th. The routes between Berlin, Halle, Leipzig, Frankfurt and Munich are particularly affected.

Short-term timetable changes in Dresden

Already this weekend there will be changes to the timetable in Dresden: Due to switch work between Radebeul Nord and Weinböhla, among others, the ICE trains from Dresden Hauptbahnhof and Dresden Neustadt will depart earlier.

Length of travel time between Berlin and Leipzig

Construction work on the route between Leipzig and Berlin will begin on October 5th. According to the railway, the trains will be diverted and the journey should take 40 to 60 minutes longer. The stop in Lutherstadt Wittenberg is omitted. The ICE hourly service will basically remain, it said.

Train cancellations and more transfers

There will be occasional failures in the ICE Sprinter on the route from Berlin to Munich.

If you want to travel from Berlin to Frankfurt, you have to change trains in Leipzig and cannot drive through as before. The ICE traffic between Leipzig / Erfurt and Frankfurt am Main will be reduced to every two hours and will be rerouted. The travel time is extended by a good hour.

Bahn: Bundling should keep restrictions low

A total of three railway construction sites are responsible for the timetable changes. The line between Ludwigsfelde and Niedergörsdorf in Brandenburg is being renovated, points are being replaced on the Leipzig-Halle line and the Hönebach tunnel between Thuringia and Hesse is also being renovated. By bundling the construction sites, Deutsche Bahn wants to shorten construction times and keep restrictions for customers to a minimum.
