Resistance to corona measures is growing in Germany: ‘We have not been asked for anything’

Well-known right-wing extremists and conspiracy thinkers also come to the demonstrations in Berlin and Stuttgart. Former journalist and radio host Ken Jebsen falls into the latter category. Also Lenz interviewed him for his newspaper. According to Jebsen, Bill and Melinda Gates misuse the corona crisis to ‘hijack’ the world and make it compulsory to vaccinate. A theory for which there is no evidence.

Does he see no danger in spreading such theories and going to war with these people? SPD party secretary Lars Klingbeil warned against conspiracy theorists in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. “They don’t want to discuss whether it is wise to close childcare or not, to wear face masks, yes or no. They are out to destabilize our system,” he told the newspaper.

Lenz doesn’t see the danger like that. Discussion does not mean that he agrees. “If in these times I have to choose whether I want to have a conversation with Ken Jebsen, no matter how freaky it is, or if I agree with the totalitarian course of the other media, then I know what I am choosing.”

‘Querdenken’

Jebsen has also been invited to the demonstration in Stuttgart for today. The initiator of the demos in that city is IT entrepreneur Michael Ballweg. He founded the Querdenken movement because he believes that fundamental rights have been constrained too easily and on too large a scale. He challenged the demonstration ban up to the Constitutional Court and was proved right. At least 4000 demonstrators came to the last Querdenk demo. For today he has registered 10,000.

Ballweg does not respond to our interview requests. On his website you can read that he only talks to the press when she is sign a comprehensive form, which says they don’t use censorship.

The mistrust in the press was also violently expressed in previous demonstrations. Two public broadcaster teams were attacked in Berlin. Six people ended up in the hospital. It is not yet known from which angle the perpetrators come.
