This Friday, September 22 at 10 a.m., a meeting between the residents of Pissevin and bus drivers was planned. However, neither the drivers nor Nîmes Métropole showed up at the meeting, leaving the residents in the greatest solitude, still without local service.
It’s 10 a.m. in the Pissevin district. The families arranged to meet bus drivers at the premises of the Mille Couleurs association. On site, around 300 people are present, according to Raouf Azzouz, director of the association.
Many residents expressed their frustration during the meeting.
We look at each other. We wait for the meeting to start. 10:15 a.m., still no driver, no union representative. No trace of Nîmes Métropole either. Tension rises and residents begin to rage. “Even when we have an appointment with the drivers to discuss calmly, they abandon us, they neglect ustestifies Fatima, a retired resident. Lots of people took time to come, canceled appointments, but even there we are not respected.”
“We give them one last chance”
The room is buzzing. Raouf Azzouz tries to calm tensions: “Nîmes Métropole offers us an appointment at 4 p.m., Monday, always at the same place.” A woman retorts, annoyed: “But they are funny, at 4 p.m., we have the children to pick up because there are no more buses… We want the meeting on Monday at 2 p.m. We give them one last chance, otherwise, we will go and demonstrate , block transport and then we might be heard.”
Faced with a tense audience, Raouf Azzouz made a request, by telephone, to bring forward the meeting to 2 p.m. this Monday, September 25, which, for the moment, has not yet been accepted.
