Residents Complain about Buying Pertalite Using Applications: Troublesome!

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

PT Pertamina will carry out a trial sale of fuel oil (BBM) pertalite and solar using a digital application, MyPertamina starting July 1, 2022.

This means, starting next month every customer who wants to buy pertalite and diesel must have an account on the MyPertamina application or register at https://subsiditepat.mypertamina.id/.

The trials will be carried out in several cities/districts spread across five provinces, including West Sumatra, South Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, West Java, and DI Yogyakarta.

This policy is expected to make the distribution of subsidized fuel right on target. Because the data in the application will show the buyer is entitled to subsidized fuel or not.

However, this new policy turned out to be considered troublesome by some people who spoke with CNNIndonesia. In addition, the public is also worried about data leaks, which will make the queue at the gas station longer so that it is not friendly to people who are technologically savvy.

Annisa (23) a private employee who uses a motorbike every day thinks that this policy will be very difficult for her.

“It’s really troublesome. What if the signal is bad? What if you don’t have a smartphone? Is there any guarantee that our data will not be protected. Most of the data entry in the application is now even more terrifying,” he told CNNIndonesia.

Wibi Pangestu (27) a private employee in Jakarta also expressed the same thing. In addition to being troublesome, he also considered that this policy was not in sync with Pertamina’s rules which prohibit customers from using mobile phones when buying fuel.

“It’s troublesome. It will definitely prolong the process of buying gasoline. So you have to scan first, what used to be, plus this is also against the prohibition on using cellphones at gas stations. We are prohibited from using cellphones while filling up gas, but we must use the MyPertamina application. I can’t find the logic,” he said.

In line, Leo (29) also conveyed the same thing. In addition to assessing this policy as inappropriate, he also believes that the queue for gasoline buyers at gas stations will be longer.

“It’s really troublesome and complicated. Isn’t it right on target, in fact the queue is getting longer,” he said.

Similarly, Galih Gumelar (31) considers that this policy does not think about people who do not have smartphones or those who are not fluent in using them.

“For example, it’s like gentlemen transporting goods to the market. Those who don’t really need it smartphone, but was forced to buy for this policy only,” said Galih.

Although he considers this policy good to make the distribution of subsidized fuel more targeted, he doubts its implementation in the field.

“I agree that the consumption of cheap fuel should be consumed by people who have the right. The intentions are good, it’s just that the implementation is afraid of making chaos. For example, a customer who does not have a cell phone but he has the right. So what should I do?” he explained.

Agreeing with Galih, Ahmad Syam (31) also considers that this policy is not friendly to people who do not have smartphones or parents who do not understand technology.

“Pertamina must also pay attention to older people who are technologically savvy, such as fishermen who have a need for assigned fuel such as pertalite but find it difficult to register. This must be considered,” he concluded to CNNIndonesia.
