A few days from official launch of Resident Evil Village Around the world, we have more and more information about this title and the obstacles that Capcom has had to overcome in order for it to reach the previous generation consoles. If you have PS4 o Xbox One Yes you can continue with the grim adventures of Ethan Winters on your console, but this was about to not be.
In an interview with IGN, the producer Tsuyoshi Kanda noted that it was not until the announcement of Resident Evil Village In June of last year Capcom decided to release it on previous generation consoles as well:
“We developed Village as a title for next-generation hardware,” Kanda said. “However, to make it accessible to more gamers, we went through a lot of trial and error to deliver a comparable experience on previous generation hardware. In the end we were able to provide a high-quality product for that hardware as well. “

The producer pointed out that, having not achieved a quality similar to that of consoles such as PS5 or Xbox Series X, Resident Evil Village would not have reached the previous generation: “Having said that, if the quality hadn’t been enough, I think we wouldn’t have released it.”
“If there had been a noticeable difference in quality of graphics or frames per second, it would not have been something that we could deliver to the players,” added director Morimasa Sato. “We did our best to make sure it was a satisfying experience on any platform.”
So, if you still don’t know whether to acquire Resident Evil Village for the older generation or wait to get a new generation console, no problem: you can make a upgrade of your version of PS4 or Xbox One when you have your new console, without costing you anything.
