Resident Evil Village, the long-awaited new chapter of the main horror franchise of Capcom, was the focus of a new edition of the Resident Evil Showcase program, shown on Thursday night (15). This time, the developers presented an unprecedented gameplay trailer and explained the timeline of the new demo version, which reaches all platforms. The game is in development for the PC (Steam), PlayStation 4 (PS4), PlayStation 5 (PS5), Xbox One e Xbox Series X/S, scheduled for release on May 7, 2021, completely localized in Brazilian Portuguese.

It is worth remembering that the game is set right after the events of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and puts players back in control of Ethan Winters from a first-person perspective. Jun Takeuchi, executive producer of the Resident Evil franchise, presented an unprecedented gameplay trailer in celebration of the 25 years of the Resident Evil franchise. The video shows Ethan being captured by Heisenberg, a mysterious character in a hat who ended the video of the last performance – and who seems to be another of the game’s antagonists. In the sequence, the protagonist has to escape from captivity while handcuffed, dodging the monsters that come along the way.

Chris Redfield, a classic and beloved fan character, also makes a new appearance, but his role in the plot and the reason he killed Mia Winters still remain a mystery. The video can be seen, in full, below:

New demo schedule and early access

A new playable demo of Resident Evil Village is available from May 1st to May 2nd for all platforms in an unusual format. As face-to-face gaming events are currently not possible due to the pandemic, Capcom decided to simulate the experience and let players explore both areas of the village and Dimitrescu castle for an hour limit. According to the developer, it will be possible to divide this one hour between the two scenarios or use it in only one of them.

Both PS4 and PS5 also receive early access to the demo over two weeks, starting this coming Saturday (17). The format, dubbed “Eight Hours in Village” for only being available for eight hours, consists of the release of two separate demonstrations for Sony consoles – one in the village and one in the castle. The playing time will be thirty minutes for each one and the pre-download is now available.

There are now collectible abilities that can increase pistol damage, movement speed, or resistance to enemy attacks. Players can also purchase and upgrade weapons during matches by meeting the Duke at specific points in the scenario.

Collaboration with Dead By Daylight

In June, Resident Evil will be the subject of an unprecedented chapter of Dead By Daylight, a multiplayer 4v1 game that is available for PC, PS4, Xbox One and mobile devices. Further details will be released in a special live broadcast from Behavior Interactive, but new killers and survivors are expected to come directly from the Capcom franchise.

To close the program, it was revealed, by surprise, that the classic Resident Evil 4, originally launched in 2005, is being remade for virtual reality glasses. Some gameplay excerpts were presented to highlight scenarios and iconic enemies of the game.

Further details, including a release date, will be released as part of the Oculus Gaming Showcase on April 21. The digital event must be broadcast on the official Oculus pages on Facebook e Twitch.
