Resident Evil 7 is now the best-selling game in the franchise

With 7.9 million units sold, the seventh component has now surpassed Resident Evil 5 (7.7 million) and Resident Evil 6 (7.6 million). This is still surprising, considering how much the sixth game in the series is unloved by many.

Furthermore, Resident Evil 7 now also earns the title of Capcom’s second best-selling game behind Monster Hunter: World, which for its part has a very impressive 16.1 million copies sold as of June 30.

That said, the place of Resident Evil 7 at the helm of the horror franchise no longer holds when you start to combine the sales of the different editions of the previous titles in the series.
