For certain applications, quantum computers may soon be able to calculate solutions that conventional computers are struggling to find. Although their performance is unsurpassed in some areas, quantum computers are extremely sensitive to external influences, which can lead to errors creeping in again and again. Researchers at ETH Zurich have now succeeded in detecting and eliminating not just one, but both types of errors that can occur in a quantum computer.
