A66-year-old man was rescued yesterday Thursday in the Alava town of Oyón after being surprised pI heard a storm on an outing to look for snails, as confirmed by sources from the Basque Department of Security.
The event took place around eight to twenty in the afternoon in the Malpica de Oyón area, where the man had gone to look for snails. The male had been surprised by a strong storm and had been trapped in a torrent of water.
Ertzaintza and Laguardia Firefighters went to the scene to rescue the man, who was later treated by an ambulance and taken to the hospital in Logroño with symptoms of hypothermia.
