Requirements adjusted: Canton Zug again allows up to 100 people in bars and clubs

From next Saturday, up to 100 people will be allowed to stay in the interior of bars and clubs in the canton of Zug. The Zug government council has adjusted the relevant requirements. He further specifies the mask requirement.

(spe/haz) Since July 13, a maximum of 30 people have been allowed to stay inside clubs and bars in the canton of Zug at the same time. From Saturday, August 22nd, the maximum number will be increased to 100. The canton of Zug announced this on Wednesday morning. This would mean that the same rules would apply to clubs and bars as to events, which would also simplify the implementation process. “The latest findings show that clubs are not the cause of a noticeably high number of infections at the moment. That is why this moderate relaxation is appropriate ”, Health Director Martin Pfister is quoted in the message.

Clarifications regarding the mask requirement

During company inspections in the canton of Zug in recent weeks, it has been found on various occasions that the protection concepts of some industry associations are not entirely clear. According to a press release, the Zug government council has therefore issued a mask requirement for all services where there is physical contact or the minimum distance cannot be maintained. This applies to hairdressing salons, tattoo studios, cosmetic studios and massage parlors. The mask requirement applies to all those present, i.e. both customers and employees. Shops or restaurants are not subject to these rules, as there is no physical contact and the minimum distance can be maintained.

Either keep a minimum distance or wear masks

In the Canton of Zug, events up to 300 people could take place without a minimum distance or protective masks, if individual sectors were created with contact data collection. Since this requirement has led to ambiguities in the implementation, the following applies from Saturday, August 22nd for events of 100 people or more: Either the minimum distance must be maintained or masks must be worn. So there is even more emphasis on the implementation of effective protective measures. In the tense epidemiological situation, great caution is still required, especially at events.

“If more than 100 people take part in an event and there were contagions, this would result in enormous effort for contact tracing”,

canton doctor Rudolf Hauri is quoted in the media release of the cantonal health department. “Maintaining contact tracing is of the utmost importance in order to be able to break the chain of infection quickly.” This change does not affect restaurants in which people sit down and have appropriate protection concepts or cinema screenings.
