Arrived as the designated successor of an Edouard Mendy who left for Chelsea, Alfred Gomis was initially spared by critics, never helped by his defense or author of beautiful parades in the Champions League. The problem is that he never really turned the matches in favor of Stade Rennais, and was too few times decisive. With 30 goals conceded in 18 games, the Senegalese does not justify the ten million euros invested in him for the moment.

Martin Terrier (23 years old)
Recruited for 12 million euros during the last transfer window in order to “take responsibility” as he himself said, Martin Terrier is in the lineage of the player we knew in Lyon. An intelligent boy, with correct statistics (3 goals and 4 assists this season), but who is not an attacking leader.

Very shy in the game, Terrier does not manage to win and cross a course with the Bretons. By dint of praising his versatility but being average everywhere, one would hardly come to wonder at which position the attacker is really decisive.

- The stat that hurts : 1 goal every 470 minutes of play in Ligue 1, which is worse than the Monegasque Axel Disasi (450), the Niçois Dante (387) or his club partner Damien Da Silva (465), who are all defenders… Not enough sharp.

Dalbert (27 years old)
Arrived with the label of the “good shot” but also of the bet, after a promising 2016/2017 season in Ligue 1 in Nice but much more complicated experiences in Italy, the left side quickly saw his Rennes adventure slip through his fingers . Two penalties caused and a red card received against Chelsea in the Champions League, to illustrate a night from which the Brazilian has never really recovered.

Barred by Maouassa and Truffert at his post, the player loaned by Inter even found himself very close to breaking his loan in January to go to Valladolid, with the green light from the Breton club. But it did not happen, and here is Dalbert stuck in Brittany until June and the end of his loan, with no prospect of playing time and with a second stint in the French championship which turns into a real nightmare.

Rony Lopes (25 years old)
Improving before an injury that looks like bad luck. Nevertheless, by bringing Rony Lopes back to the Côte d’Azur this summer, Nice thought to find the defender blaster who had made the heyday of AS Monaco. It was a shipwreck from which the Aiglons suffered for a long time, accentuated by the loss of his mother at the start of the season and by a Covid which will have delayed his athletic recovery.

Served by sluggish animation, the Portuguese was a shadow of himself, unable to create differences on his right side and awkward when it came time to conclude. Result: a very neutral statistical season and a real question for the Nice board: should we lift the option to buy at 20 million euros for it? Nothing is less sure.

Robson Bambu (23 years old)
He plays less and less. The arrivals of William Saliba and Jean-Clair Todibo took him away from the typical team. If he was able to find the starting eleven against OM (3-2) in a late match because the winter recruits were not qualified, this is the only meeting he has played in full in the last five L1 matches. And he didn’t really take his chance. Worse, he still displayed his limits with his technical shortcomings. The time when we were talking about the nice shot made by Nice after having managed to snatch it from Paranaense for 8 million euros while his name was also on the shelves of OL, LOSC and AS Roma seems good far.
