The strike continues. This Monday, June 27, after a meeting with the human resources department of Aviation Security, the subcontractor in charge of rescue and firefighting missions, the 24 firefighters at Rennes airport have decided to extend their social movement started last Friday. They demand an improvement in working conditions, an increase in wages and recognition of their profession.
The airport firefighters will go to the Rennes Prefecture on Tuesday morning to try to make their demands heard. A new meeting with their management should then take place during the day. Actions could “disrupt air traffic” in the coming days, a statement said.
Several social movements in the aviation sector
On the side of Rennes airport, it is assured that there is “at this stage” no significant impact for passengers, even if this complex situation is added to the various strikes which have affected the air sector for some days. “We remain attentive to the evolution of the situation”, confirms Rennes airport. “In this kind of situation, the airlines transmit information directly to their passengers on the status of their flight. We are mobilizing all our means of communication at the airport to relay this information when it is confirmed”.
