The Government has calculated that the savings linked to the free Cercanías and Media Distancia trains, as well as 50% discounts on Avant and some AVE, will reach 1,000 euros per family between the next months of September and December.
This was stated by the Minister for Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, during her speech at the press conference after the meeting of the Council of Ministers, in which she reported that Some 300,000 people have already registered on the Renfe website to purchase these free subscriptions starting this Wednesday.
The savings have been calculated from a family made up of a couple and two student children who move around the metropolitan area of the main cities that have public transportation services. Surroundings (Suburbs in Catalonia) and Medium Distance. Thus, families, according to government estimates, will save around 600 euros in Madrid, 750 euros in Barcelona and up to 1,000 euros in other cities such as Valencia or Seville over the four months.
Sánchez has taken advantage of his speech to question the PP and its president, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, so that they vote in favor of the aid package. “This measure helps families, young people, workers and, ultimately, everyone, because it makes public transport more affordable, making it possible to go to the workplace, study, health centers and other public services. It is a relief for their economies, especially for the most vulnerable, and benefits society as a whole because it helps to contain the inflationary spiral,” added the minister.
Guide to buy tickets
Since last August 8, users can register on the website and in the Renfe and Renfe Cercanías applications to prepare the necessary procedures for the acquisition of season tickets from this Wednesday. Users who normally use Renfe tools will already have this step done, since it involves recording the data.
To purchase the subscription, it will be necessary to deposit a bail. In the case of Surroundings y Rodalies, the deposit to be paid at the time of acquiring the pass will be from 10 europreferably by means of a bank card, so that the refund is automatically returned to that card, as long as the user has made a minimum of 16 trips.
In case of not complying with the stipulated minimum number of trips, the deposit will be considered compensation and will not be returned to the user. In the event that the deposit is deposited in cash, the return of the deposit must be requested at the ticket offices, customer service offices or any other after-sales service authorized for this purpose by Renfe.
During the marketing period of the new recurring subscription, The sale of the rest of the usual subscriptions will be suspendedalthough those that have been previously purchased will maintain the validity with which they have been acquired and may be used.
The subscription will be purchased for each Cercanías hub and will be valid for unlimited travel between any origin and destination. All customers will be able to obtain this pass at the ticket offices, self-service machines and through the Renfe Cercanías app, except in the metric gauge and conventional gauge hubs of Asturias and Santander, where they can only purchase it physically.
The app will generate a QR code that will be downloaded to the mobile and that can be used to directly cross the turnstiles in the Cercanías nuclei of Madrid, Málaga, Murcia/Alicante, Valencia and Zaragoza. Likewise, it will generate a seven-digit code with which the subscription can be obtained on physical support or loaded into the one that the customer already has at the ticket offices or self-service machines in the centers of Cádiz, San Sebastián, Bilbao, Seville and Barcelona. . In any case, in the stations of these nuclei Renfe will have support personnel.
Middle distance
In the case of the Conventional Medium Distance, the deposit will be, in general terms, 20 euros and if a minimum of 16 trips is madebail will be returned. As regards the deposit, on the Media Distancia Villarrubia-Córdoba-Rabanales-Alcolea line, the one stipulated for Cercanías tickets (10 euros) will be applied. The deposit will also be 10 euros between any of the stations that make up the Rodalies centers of Lleida, Tarragona and Girona.
Galicia
In the case of Galiciawhere they exist Ancho Metric Proximities between Ferrol and Ortigueirathe deposit to be deposited will be 10 euros and it will be refundable.
For users of Conventional Media Distance and Media Distance Metric Width trains (the service that exists between Ferrol-Oviedo and Gijón) the deposit to deposit will be 20 euros which will also be refundable if those 16 trips are made and always with a 100% discount.
Subscriptions Before
In the case of the new high-speed passes and subscriptions Avantthe period of use will cover from September 1, 2022 to January 31, 2023.
The Avant OSP services (public service obligation) will have an 50% discount for recurring userswhich will be applied to all Avant multi-trip tickets (Plus Card Subscription, Plus 10 Card or Plus 10-45 Card) sold between August 24 and December 31, 2022 to be used from September 1 and up to on January 31, 2023.
Passes sold previously whose trips are used during the discount period may request a refund of 50% of each trip made during that period through Renfe’s after-sales channels. Discounts for large families and other organizations will be applied after the 50% discount.
For the Avant Tarjeta Plus subscription (30-50) three months of validity are established and 60 days for its use from the date of travel of the first formalization. For the Avant Card Plus 10 Normal and Student, 30 days are set for the first formalization and 20 days for its use from the travel date of said formalization. For the Avant Tarjeta Plus 10-45, the period of validity and use will be 45 days from the date of purchase, including this.
New high-speed multi-journey passes
Renfe Viajeros will also sell a new recurring subscription on certain routes, which will be registered and it will correspond to an origin/destination on routes in which the shortest travel time is less than 100 minutes, it is not a route declared a public service obligation-Avant and it is not on lines with signed capacity framework agreements.
It can be purchased between next Wednesday and December 31, 2022 to be used between September 1, 2022 and January 1, 2023; It will be valid for 10 trips, in both directions, between the requested origin and destination, and its period of use will be 30 days for the first formalization and 20 days for its use from the travel date of said formalization.
Madrid-Palencia, Madrid-Zamora, León-Valladolid, León-Palencia, Burgos-Madrid, Burgos-Valladolid, Ourense-Zamora, Palencia-Valladolid, Huesca-Zaragoza, León-Segovia, Segovia-Zamora, Palencia-Segovia, Medina del Campo-Zamora are the relationships for which this new ticket can be purchased.
