The leader of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has decided to renew 75% of the candidates who will lead the candidacies for the Congress of Deputies and include a large part of his Steering Committee in starting positions.
The Electoral Committee of the PP met this Monday to approve the list of candidates who will lead the party’s candidacies with which it will compete in the next general elections on July 23.
In this candidacy, 39 of the 52 heads of the list are renewed, that is, 75%. The president of the party will head the list for Madrid; the general secretary, Cuca Gamarra, from La Rioja; and the general coordinator, Elías Bendodo, will lead the one in Malaga.
In addition, the Deputy Secretary of Economy, Juan Bravo, will head Servilla’s list; while the Deputy Secretary of Studies, Carmen Navarro, will do the same with that of Albacete. The Deputy Secretary of Social Policies, Carmen Fúnez, will lead the Ciudad Real candidacy.
In his case, the Deputy Secretary of Institutional Affairs, Esteban González Pons, will head the Valencia list; while the Deputy Secretary of Organization, Miguel Tellado, will lead the candidacy for the Lower House for A Coruña.
The criterion used by the Electoral Committee, chaired by Diego Calvo, to select the heads of the list has been “to include people who have extensive political and legislative experience, as well as proven experience in public and private management, with profiles who, in addition to having this background, have been part of the party structures and have done magnificent work during this legislature,” highlighted the PP.
Feijóo already communicated last Friday to the former spokesperson of the Popular Group Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo, and to the deputy secretary of Culture and Open Society, Borja Sémper, of his willingness to also accompany him, in his cases on the Madrid list for Congress.
