In Lower Austria there is a veritable photovoltaic boom. This is reported by the EVN subsidiary Netz Niederösterreich. The inquiries for PV systems have tripled annually for the third time in a row.

“Around 25 percent of Austria’s solar power plants are located here in Lower Austria,” says EVN CEO Franz Mittermayer, referring to the PV boom in the country. In the first three months of 2023 alone, 8,000 new PV systems were reported as finished, so that more than 70,000 solar power plants are now feeding into the grid of the EVN subsidiary Netz NÖ.

Strong system plus in Lower Austria’s districts

If you compare the applications and notifications of completion in March of this year with March of the previous year, a clear upward trend can be seen throughout Lower Austria. 3,400 systems were completed in March 2023, three times as many as in the same month last year.

The Korneuburg district is the front runner with an increase in facilities of around 402 percent. The Wiener Neustadt district recorded an increase of around 381 percent compared to March 2022, and 365 percent in the Tulln district. In absolute figures, the district of Neunkirchen is in first place with 271 completed PV systems. In the district of Gänserndorf there were 256 plants, 229 in the district of St. Pölten Land.
