Marc-André Rousselle and Jean-Philippe Coutu, owners of Remorques Marca, rented the old Saint-Robert arena located at 4120, route Marie-Victorin. They will set up their main point of sale there as well as their manufacturing workshop in August.

Marca Trailers is a commercial trailer manufacturer. It designs, manufactures and sells all styles of trailers, tamers to the flat bed.

“We launched the business in 2016, in Saint-Jérôme, but due to lack of space, we moved to Saint-Nazaire in 2019. Then, once again, our workshop was made too small and it no longer responded to our needs. needs, ”explains Marc-André Rousselle, co-owner of Remorques Marca.

“It must be said that our company has grown quite quickly,” he emphasizes. The premises in the City of Saint-Jérôme had become much too expensive for our type of workshop. By settling in the region, we had access to larger premises for less. “

Several months ago, the co-owners of Remorques Marca contacted the building owners, Pièces d’autos St-Robert, in order to lease the entire building. “We were looking for a place that was in a good location and honestly, we couldn’t ask for better than to establish ourselves on route 132. Especially since there are a lot of people in the region who have boats and trailers,” he says. man originally from Châteauguay, in Montérégie.

“Thanks to the large size of the building, we will be able to set up our workshop there as well as our main point of sale,” he adds. In addition, we are starting to sell our trailers to certain distributors. “

Now up to ten employees, Marc-André Rousselle believes he will be able to hire six or seven additional employees once established in Saint-Robert. “In the first two years, we didn’t sell a lot of trailers, we were more focused on building our business. However, everything went very quickly and we believe we will be able to sell around 200 this year and 450 by 2022, ”he believes.

Triggers

Although the company sells a lot of trailers to farmers and traders, it has mostly sold custom products for the past two years.

“That’s really what put us on the map. However, although we have carried out a market study in the region, I do not know if this trend will continue ”.

On the marketing side, he emphasizes that their participation in the show In the eye of the dragon, in 2018, was a trigger. “Even though the dragons told us no on the show, one of them remained our personal coach. This greatly helps us to establish our business well, ”he emphasizes.

The multi-trailer

In addition to their varied offer of trailers, the two owners have embarked on the manufacture of a unique interchangeable trailer in the world, patented and accredited by Transport Canada.

“The multi-trailer can do it all. She has a closed box, a dump trailer and a classic trailer, ”says Rousselle.

Despite its popularity, they were forced to stop production. “The pandemic is creating supply problems. It is a complex trailer to manufacture and requires parts that we import from China and India. We will give the economy time to stabilize and we will return to its construction, ”explains the Châteauguois.

While emphasizing his impatience to settle in the region, he specifies that they will focus mainly on the manufacture of more conventional trailers with the parts and components available on the market, when they arrive in Saint-Robert.
