Today, Saturday, we have the first anniversary of the artist Samir Sabry’s departure, as he left our world on May 20, 2022, at the age of 86, after a struggle with illness, as the great artist Samir Sabry lay in a hospital in the Mohandessin area, and after leaving for his stay in a hotel, he died.

The artist, Samir Sabry, was born on December 27, 1936 in Alexandria Governorate, and he was raised in a family that loved and appreciated art. His mother used to play the piano and his aunt played the lute. His family accompanied him to theaters and cinema and encouraged him to imitate famous people.

At the age of 9, he moved with his father to live in Cairo, and resided in a property inhabited by the artist Abdel Halim Hafez.

Samir Sabry combined talent and presence, and was able to fly strongly in the world of fame and lights, as he worked as a broadcaster, singer and actor, and proved his presence in all fields, until critics gave him the title of “the comprehensive artist.” Sabry, through his long artistic and media career, achieved great popularity in Egypt and the Arab world, as he reserved a place for himself in the hearts of the stars of art because of his noble and humane stances with colleagues of art who passed the days on them, and the lights of glory and fame went away from them, and poverty and disease attacked them.

“Samir Sabry” gained his fame in the artistic community as a friend of giants and a companion of creators, a witness and maker of many events in the life of the great stars of the artists of the beautiful time. One of the giants of art, they had a loyal friend and companion who reminds them when everyone forgets them and the lights turn away from them.

His first appearance in the cinema was in a cinematic work by The Nightingale Al-Asmar Abdel Halim in the movie “A Tale of Love”, in 1959, and then he embarked on a great march that exceeded 200 works of art, between films, series, plays, radio series, broadcaster and fawazir, founded with Rafik Al-Sabban, Youssef Shaheen and Hussein Kamal And Sayed Royal is an art syndicate named “The Free Openers”, and his latest work was the movie (2 Talaat Harb), which was shown in March 2022.

Samir Sabry presented to the cinema nearly 200 films, which varied between comedy, thriller, and tragedy, the most prominent of which are “My Father is on the Tree, We Are Not Angels,” The Overpowering People’s Fatwa, Half an Hour of Passport, The Delicious Killing, A Prison Without Bars, The Most Dangerous Man in the World, Shanbo in the Trap, The sinners, and the train of life passed, berries and prophethood, my story with time, and with parents benevolence.

The last appearance on the screen of the great artist, Samir Sabry, was the series “Valentino” with the leader, Adel Imam, which was shown during the Ramadan drama season before the past, and he also participated during the past few years in several films, the last of which was “2 Talat Harb” directed by Magdy Ahmed Ali, and before him “Dido”. Starring Karim Fahmy, Bayoumi Fouad, Ahmed Fathi and Mohamed Tharwat, and “Mohamed Hussein” with the star Mohamed Saad, and “My Personalities Part Two” with the artist Tamer Abdel Moneim.
