Somers’ longtime publicist says that although the actress was “frail,” her family and medical staff did not expect her to die.
“There’s been a lot of news and rumors that she was in hospice care, but that’s completely untrue,” her publicist revealed. “Susan had expected to eat a lot of cake on her birthday.”
He said Somers was in a “debilitated state” about a week before a party she had planned for her 77th birthday.
“She just wanted to eat cake with her family at her home in Palm Springs. No one thought she was going to die, it was unexpected.”
