Remembering director Brikmanis, Meikenkalns Nature Concert Hall will host a mood concert “In the sky of August” – Cultural and entertainment events – Culture +

The concert will feature composer Raimonds Tiguls, whose author’s music will be intertwined with folk music melodies performed by singer Kristīne Kārkle-Kalniņa and kokleta Laima Jansone. The artistic director of the concert is Jansone.

At the event, a mirror steel memorial plaque “Letter from Uga” will be installed in the nature concert hall, which will also be a message from Brikmanis. The mirror of the plaque will symbolize his idea of the path of light that goes with the people every day and every time events take place in the Neikenkalns Nature Concert Hall, the words expressed by Brikmanis will reflect the patterns of folk costumes of choirs and dancers, thus continuing his idea forever.

The author of the plate is the artist Ivars Mailītis, and its production is financed from the income obtained from the sale of tickets for the first concert “In the Sky in August” and deposited in the Brikmanis Fund established by Kocēni municipality. The production of the plate was co-financed by Kocēni municipality.

Upīte pointed out that the mood concert series “In the Sky in August” is planned as an annual event, honoring Brikmanis and his values, maintaining the common cultural heritage.

The theme of the concert and the title song was chosen by the writer Imants Ziedonis and musicians – Renārs Kaupers, Tigulis and Jansone – “In the Sky of August”, which will also be performed at this year’s concert. It reflects the theme of the concert, which shows and highlights the contribution of Latvian culture and its personalities to Latvian literature and music.

Concert entrance tickets can be purchased at “Biļešu paradīze” box offices, as well as at the box office of Kocēni municipality administration in Kocēni. Proceeds from ticket sales will be used to continue Brikmanis’ ideas.

The Neikenkalns Nature Concert Hall had a special place for Brikmanis – his initiative was to remind Latvia of the place where the First Singing Festival took place – Dikļi. Brikmanis was the director of all the big events that took place in the Neikenkalns Nature Concert Hall, namely, the First Singing Festival – 150, folklore festivals “Baltica”, dance performance “From the Sword of the Sword”, which experienced the first performance in nature in Dikļi, Song Festival modeling concert. He believed that good music, good words, agreement in a common dance, is a way to reveal the true nature of cultural-historical, legendary places, Upīte said.

The concert is organized by Kocēni municipality.
