According to Patrick, both Paula and Remco are clearly excited. “A lot happens, a lot doesn’t happen,” he says in front of the camera. When he takes the couple aside for a moment, he concludes that the sparks did not fly. “No, unfortunately”, Paula agrees.
What Patrick does notice as an expert is that they both have a ‘very high commitment’. “What I just feel, but I am a behavioral psychologist so I mainly see it, there is no physical connection between the two. They look at each other, smile sweetly at each other, but that physical connection is not there.”
Paula admits that she sees her new husband approaching, but lacks the attraction. “So you take a step back,” she explains. “It’s just a shame that the fire isn’t in it from me to him.” Remco, in turn, lacks the dedication to make something of it together. “Maybe you’re sending it and I’m getting it wrong, but that’s how I feel,” he says.
For the groom, it already starts with the kiss on the yes – which lands on the cheek instead of the mouth. “Then I actually thought: ‘Huh, this is weird.’ There are four experts who have turned me completely inside out and then a woman stands in front of me when I say yes and kisses me on the cheek…” He had expected a woman to go all-in and that didn’t happen.
Paula blames the kiss action on stress. “I didn’t really know what to do at that moment. So I’m going for safe, because I don’t know you. And if I ran into you in a cafe, I wouldn’t kiss you right on the mouth. So I chose the safe path,” she explains. “I want to get to know you first, who you are. And then we can kiss further, if that’s the case.”
Paula then tells Remco and Patrick that she doesn’t want to hurt anyone and is therefore careful. “I want to build it up slowly.”
