Remains of an old synagogue discovered in Turkey

Parts of an ancient Jewish temple were found in the southern Turkish city of Side.

They discovered remains from an old synagogue which operated during the 7th century in Side, a city in southern Turkey. In the structure there were inscriptions in Hebrew and Greek next to the drawing of a menorah.

The city it was the home of jews for centuries, but until this discovery there was little evidence of community life there. A few records from the Byzantine period it was the only thing that had been found previously.

Discoveries of the ancient Jewish life in different parts of the world. It is not the first time that remains of an old synagogue have been found in recent times.

It is expected that when more places in Side are remodeled over the next few years, unknown structures appear at the moment, just as it happened with this Jewish temple.
