Incidentally, the group had requested and received permission from the director of the cemetery. The director has since been suspended and the National Ombudsman has already concluded that permission should never have been given.
Abandoned video camera
The case caused a lot of unrest and came to light when the father of a deceased child found an abandoned video camera with footage of the meeting. Relatives of 42 deceased at the cemetery have reported grave robbery.

It is not clear how many people choose to give their loved one another final resting place. Mayor Lucas Bolsius of Amersfoort speaks of ‘some relatives’.
‘Emotional decision’
Bolsius calls the choice to rebury loved ones a “huge emotional decision.” “We deeply regret that it has such far-reaching consequences for these relatives, but we also respect their choice,” says the mayor. “For that reason, we will reimburse the costs associated with this.”
Amersfoort wants the next of kin who need this to talk to the group that set up and attended the séance.
