Relations with Israel could be normalized by five or six more Arab countries / Day

“We have come a long way on this journey with about five more countries,” Trump said in the White House’s Oval office, hosting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu before signing the deal with the UAE and Bahrain.

“We will have at least five or six countries that will join very soon, we are already talking to them,” he added.

On August 13, Trump unexpectedly issued a statement on the normalization of Israeli-UAE relations.

On September 11, the President of the United States announced the conclusion of a similar agreement between Israel and Bahrain.

Of the Arab countries, only Egypt and Jordan have normalized relations with Israel.

Trump has hailed Israel’s agreements with the UAE and Bahrain as a victory for its administration.

Under the agreement, Israel has agreed to postpone the further annexation of the Palestinian territories.

The Palestinian Authority sees the Arab agreement on the normalization of relations with Israel as a betrayal of the Palestinians and their hopes for Jerusalem as the capital of their future state. Turkey and Iran have also expressed their opposition to the agreement.

The Bahraini opposition also condemned it on Tuesday.
