Regio: SC Freiburg & Regio-Verkehrsverbund Freiburg: KombiTicket for free travel for fans in the entire association area for ten years – the second half of the Bundesliga starts on January 21st

If you want to travel to the home games of SC Freiburg without a car, you have many options: be it by train, tram, sports bus, your own bike or frelo – all fans and guests will find the means of transport of their choice. Particularly good news for fans who want to use local transport: for the games of the first two men’s teams at SC Freiburg, the general rule is: admission ticket = ticket. From three hours before the start of the game and until the end of the day, you have free return travel to the stadium within the regular service of the Regio-Verkehrsverbund Freiburg (RVF).

After the regulation for free travel to the stadium since 1993 initially only applied to the buses and trains of Freiburger Verkehrs AG in the city of Freiburg, it was extended to all buses and trains in the RVF around 10 years ago. This means that those who have an SC ticket can also travel from the Emmendingen and Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald districts free of charge. “10 years ago we made an agreement with SC Freiburg – initially only for the 1st men’s team in the Bundesliga – that the admission ticket is also valid as a ticket, the 2nd men’s team (U-23) came with the promotion to the 3rd th league in July 2021. We are grateful that we have such a good partnership with the sports club. For a small fee, which is paid with each admission ticket, viewers can use all of the public transport in the RVF. Our KombiTicket is a real model of success, from which the fans particularly benefit,” explains Dorothee Koch, Managing Director of the RVF.

Arrival well-rehearsed:
“The new location of the stadium and the larger crowd of spectators presented new challenges for everyone involved. In the past season, the fans and we at VAG learned how everything works as smoothly as possible. The journey to and from the city train has meanwhile worked out well,” say Oliver Benz and Stephan Bartosch, board members of Freiburger Verkehrs AG”.

The tram line 4 stops directly at the stadium and is supplemented with special trains from all directions for home games of the sports club. The trains of the Breisgau S-Bahn between Breisach and Villingen will also be strengthened as far as possible. It is only a 1,000 m walk from the “Messe/Universität” stop to the stadium. Buses also run from the “Messe Freiburg” stop in the direction of Gundelfingen/Denzlingen. If you prefer to be mobile yourself, you can bring your own bike or use one of Freiburg’s frelo rental bikes – there is a rental station right next to the stadium.

Sports buses provide a direct connection:
In addition to the bus, tram and train services, there are sports buses from Südbadenbus. These run from Herbolzheim, Emmendingen, Elzach, Bleibach, Waldkirch, Ehrenkirchen, Muellheim, Heitersheim and Staufen to the Europapark stadium – “Suwonallee” stop – and back again. The return trip currently costs 8 euros for adults.
