Refser Inga Marte Thorkildsen: – New alliance:

The Conservatives and the Red Party are now joining forces to secure a new hearing in the Clemens Saers case in Oslo City Council.

The Conservatives believe that former school councilor Inga Marte Thorkildsen provided insufficient information when the case was up, and that this contributed to the wrong outcome.

– We adopted the case with insufficient information, and it is completely untenable, says Mehmet Kaan Inan (H) to Dagbladet.

Dagbladet recently mentioned the information Thorkildsen gave the city council when a proposal was made to give an apology to the abused teacher Clemens Saers. Thorkildsen told the city council that they had tried to get to a «memorable solution»With Saers, but that he had rejected it.

Offer: – Shame offer

Last week, Dagbladet was able to tell what the amicable solution consisted of: 150,000 kroner on a lawyer’s bill of 1.7 million, as well as six months’ severance pay without compulsory work.

In addition, the municipality wanted Saers to quit his teaching job. Saers has sued the municipality in court, but has lost in the district court and the court of appeal. The appeal to the Supreme Court was rejected.

– It was a shame, and not an amicable solution at all. Inga Marte Thorkildsen gave the city council the completely wrong impression of the case, and we trusted her information. As a result, the case was treated poorly. I understand very well why Clemens Saers declined the municipality’s offer, says Kaan Inan further.

He describes the situation as serious.

– That both the Conservatives and the Red Party demand new treatment, emphasizes how serious the case is. In practice, Inga Marte Thorkildsen gave a guarantee to the city council that Clemens Saers had received a reasonable offer, that they tried everything to assist a man in a crisis. But then it turned out not to be the case. Now we will go through all the information and give the case the treatment it deserves.

Rødt-Eivor: – Sensational

Rødt’s Eivor Evenrud says that she has noticed the cases in Dagbladet and other media in recent days.

When the Conservatives contacted Mehmet, she had no doubt that the Clemens Saers case needed to be re-examined.

– It is rare for the Conservatives and the Red Party to find each other, but here we completely agree. In the answer to Mehmet’s written questions, new information emerges. We will have a case opened on 17 November and send it to the city council for processing, Evenrud tells Dagbladet.

Voted against

Rødt voted against giving Saer greater assistance from the municipality when the matter was up in the city council in May 2020. Evenrud is not sure that the new information would change the voting at that time.

– Then the case was in the court system and it is not a given that we would intervene, says Evenrud, who also reacts to the apology Saers was presented.

– I have seen the apology that was given. This is not an apology I would have appreciated. I also find it startling that the offer was actually to end and lose the employment relationship.

– Most things have gone wrong in this case, is Eivor Evenrud’s verdict.

– I could wish that the new city councilor or city council leader went in and cleaned up this matter. We disagree with Rødt in quite a lot of politics, but here it is a matter of justice and security for the teachers at work in the Oslo school, adds Kaan Inan in the Conservative Party.
