MANY RIVALS – The second generation of the medium SUV Volkswagen Tiguan, unveiled in 2016, has become a real bestseller for the German house: in 2019 it was produced in 911,000 units and even outperformed the Golf, the best-selling Volkswagen for years. Today the restyling is revealed, with the aim of making the Tiguan remain on the crest of the wave in spite of the many rivals, such as Kia Sportage, Mazda CX-5 and Peugeot 3008. The 2020 edition of the Tiguan should arrive on the market in autumn, with prices estimated at around € 31,500.

MATRIX HEADLIGHTS ARE COMING – The Volkswagen Tiguan 2020 it is recognized by the updated grille, more extended in the lower part and better integrated with the headlights: the impression is that the more evident chromed strips flow into the lights. These become slimmer and tapered, but also the shape of the daytime running lights (they are inspired by the Golf) and the system called Iq.Light arrives: they are led matrix lights, composed of electronically controlled light diodes, capable of modulating the beam to better adapt it to road conditions. The Tiguan has a renewed bonnet, smoother, and slight modifications to the tailgate, where the Tiguan writing is no longer lateral: it is centrally housed, under the logo of the German house.

ASSISTED GUIDE – The news for the Volkswagen Tiguan there are also in the cockpit, where the multifunction steering wheel (the central part is round) and the climate controls, which are now touch sensitive, change. Also new is the MIB 3 multimedia system, connected to the network and able to provide more information taken from the internet, including fuel prices, weather and traffic conditions. The audio system of the specialist Harman Kardon, with a power of 480 watts, and the Travel Assist system, which controls the accelerator, brakes and steering up to a speed of 210 km / h, are also unpublished for the Tiguan: the SUV remains central of the lane and follows the flow of traffic until it stops completely.

HYBRID OR SPORTY – In addition to the evolutions of petrol and diesel engines, the characteristics of which, however, have not yet been announced Volkswagen Tiguan receives the hybrid with external rechargeable batteries (for the Tiguan e-Hybrid version), similar to that announced for other Volkswagen Group cars, including the Cupra Formentor, Seat Leon and Skoda Octavia: it consists of the 2.0 TSI petrol turbo and an electric motor integrated into the robotic gearbox with double clutch, for 245 HP of total power. The peppery Tiguan R also debuts, with the 2.0 TSI with 320 HP and the 4×4 with R-Performance Torque Vectoring function: to improve traction on low-grip surfaces, the torque is not only distributed between the front and rear wheels, but also between the left and right rear ones.
