Red Bull Racing does not hide the fact that Sergio Perez’s results in recent months leave much to be desired. Team consultant Helmut Marko made it clear that the Mexican driver remains in the team largely due to the fact that Red Bull Racing does not see him as a worthy replacement.
Helmut Marko: “I will repeat what I said earlier – Perez has a contract and we want to respect his terms. The team is doing everything possible to get his results back on track.
We simply have no alternative options for Perez. Otherwise he might have problems. At the moment I see only one driver who can come close to Max’s speed – Fernando Alonso.”
Sergio Perez is faced with the task of finishing the season in second place in the individual standings, but Marco rejected the idea that Max Verstappen would help his team-mate in this: “No, Max will not help him.”
