Regarding this, Minister of Research and Technology (Menristek) Bambang Permadi Soemantri Brodjonegoro said that the development of the Red and White vaccine continues to be directed to be given as a COVID-19 vaccine to various age groups of the Indonesian population. “Certainly in that direction, of course the clinical trials must be monitored,” said Minister of Research and Technology / Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Bambang, quoted from the Antara news agency, Friday (19/30.
Menristek Bambang said, to ensure the efficacy and safety of the Red and White vaccine for later users, the process and results of the clinical trial of the vaccine must be monitored. The expected safety of the vaccine is the maximum and has been proven in clinical trials.
Epidemiologist from the University of Indonesia Tri Yunis Miko Wahyono said that all Indonesians of all ages are vulnerable to COVID-19 infection, so it is hoped that future vaccinations can be given to all residents. There are still Indonesians under the age of 18 who have not been injected with the COVID-19 vaccine, which is tens of millions of people.
He hopes that the Red and White vaccine can be a breakthrough to become a vaccine that can stimulate the emergence of immunity against SARS-CoV-2 virus infection for children under 18 years of age. “There is no vaccine given to those people (under the age of 18). So we are waiting for the Red and White vaccine, ”said Yunis.
