Record turnover at petrol stations. No need to buy in advance – POPiHN’s appeal

The Polish Oil Industry and Trade Organization (POPiHN) recorded “record turnover of petrol stations in Poland after the Russian attack on Ukraine”. The press release added that oil and fuel supplies will last 98 days. “You want to help Ukraine, keep calm and refuel when you need it, not in reserve,” appealed POPiHN.

“Stocks of crude oil and fuels will be sufficient to meet the domestic demand for up to 98 days. Crude oil supplies to Poland continue through the Druzhba pipeline, and oil and ready fuels are continuously used by tankers,” reads the POPiHN release.

Record turnover at petrol stations

The organization added that “it recorded record turnover of petrol stations in Poland after the Russian attack on Ukraine”, with “on February 24, retail sales of fuels at stations were 200 to 400 percent higher than the previous week’s average,” and “on February 25, sales increased by 300 percent “.

“In order to improve work and enable refueling as many drivers as possible, some gas stations have introduced a restriction in the amount of fuel sold. Remedial measures have also been introduced to prevent price speculation. The nationwide situation is calming down, but disinformation fills the social media” – it was written in the release.

POPiHN announced that “increased demand for fuels is visible, which creates additional logistical challenges.” “The companies monitor the situation from the very beginning, and take measures to supply the stations every day. The fuel terminals are fully stocked and the tanker traffic runs smoothly” – she noted.

POPiHN: fuel is refilled at the stations

She added that “the fuel at the stations is being replenished on an ongoing basis, the deliveries have also intensified over the weekend,” so “the situation at the stations should normalize in the coming days”.

“There are no indications for a radical increase in prices. After a temporary increase in excess of $ 100 per barrel, oil prices are going down. Most gas stations have acted responsibly, and scandalous cases of earning money from panic have been reduced,” the organization emphasized.

She explained that “supplies are increased to cover the increase in demand”, “companies verify all signals about price manipulation and ruthlessly fight them”.

“In connection with this, an appropriate report was submitted to the Internal Security Agency. Moreover, the Head of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection ordered immediate inspections of stations that take advantage of the uncertainty related to the war in Ukraine to absurdly raise fuel prices,” the press release reads.

POPiHN warns against disinformation

POPiHN wrote that it monitors social media “where false information about the massive shortage of supplies or the availability of raw materials and fuels is still disseminated.”

“We emphasize that these are disinformation activities aimed at causing uncontrolled panic among the society. The situation at petrol stations is under control. We appeal once again – there is no reason to buy fuel in stock. Be responsible. Verify the sources of information. peace, “POPiHN appealed.
