Record Number of New Students Welcomed at Niederrhein University’s Street Food Festival

Krefeld/Mönchengladbach. The Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences is pleased to welcome 2,747 new students for the winter semester 2023/2024. This Wednesday, the new freshmen were ceremoniously welcomed at the big street food festival on the Mönchengladbach campus. “We are very pleased that you have found your way to the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences. We are sure that with us you will develop the skills that will be the foundation for a successful professional life. “You have made a good choice,” said Professor Dr. Berthold Stegemerten (Vice President for Studies and Teaching) in his welcome speech.

Of the 2,747 students, 2,436 are starting a bachelor’s degree. The number of master’s students, which is currently 311, may increase slightly in the next few weeks due to late registrations.

After initial numbers fell slightly in previous years, around 230 more young people enrolled at Niederrhein University this year than last year.

New students start in around 90 bachelor’s and master’s degree programs, which are offered in ten departments in Krefeld and Mönchengladbach. Particularly popular courses this year are social work with 220 enrollments and industrial engineering with 145 enrollments.

The courses in computer science (144) and business administration (136) are also still very popular. Offers in the area of ​​cyber security are also in high demand. The Bachelor of Cyber ​​Security Management has 129 people enrolled, the Digital Forensics course, which is being offered for the first time, has 56 full-time enrollees and an additional 52 part-time people.
