Record number of new corona cases in Hungary | Abroad

Compared to other countries in Europe, Hungary, with nearly 10 million inhabitants, has been spared the corona virus in recent months. Shocked by Friday’s surge – more than a hundred for the first time since April – Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s government decided to close its borders to most foreigners. The measure will take effect on Tuesday.

It is only possible to enter the country in special cases. Hungarians and foreigners living in Hungary must be quarantined for two weeks after their return. Experts believe that the relatively strong increase in infections is the result of carefree behavior among young people in particular and more testing.
