JAKARTA, iNews.id – Covid-19 survivors or people who have recovered from corona virus infection have different symptoms from each other. Now doctors in India are raising awareness about mucormicosis which emerged as a significant challenge in the second wave of Covid 19 infections.
Citing Indian Express, doctors have also raised awareness about mucormycosis which is emerging as a significant challenge in the second wave of Covid-19 infections.
Mucormycosis is a rare but serious fungal infection, and usually does not pose a serious threat to those with healthy immune systems.
However, doctors are currently watching an increase in mucormycosis among people who are hospitalized or those who have recovered from Covid-19.
High blood sugar and low immune function are the strongest risk factors for mucormycosis. Consultant Physician of Infectious Diseases, Jupiter Hospital Dr Rajeev Soman said, Patients most susceptible to mucormycosis are those who have been treated with steroids and other Covid-19 drugs.
