So, what are the causes of mucus in the lungs now?

A lot of mucus production indicates that the baby’s body is fighting germs. However, too much mucus can make the baby feel uncomfortable and cause his breathing to speed up.

Mucus that accumulates in babies’ lungs can occur when they inhale smoke, pollutants, viruses, and other irritants. At this time, the baby’s body produces excess mucus in the nose and respiratory tract to trap and remove these irritants.

Babies are more susceptible to infection because they have small nasal passages and airways. Prolonged exposure to changing weather conditions can also trigger excess mucus production and nasal congestion.

1. Flu

The main factor responsible for forming mucus is cold. Babies don’t know how to expel mucus in their airways, they are more prone to mucus buildup to tight chests.

2. Weak immune system

Babies are more at risk of getting sick because their immune systems are weak. This resulted in a susceptibility to the common cold and high fever which allowed mucus to build up in his respiratory tract.

3. Born prematurely

Premature babies have an underdeveloped immune system. Their lungs are weaker, which puts babies at higher risk of developing mucus buildup and chest tightness.

4. Allergic reactions

Allergies can cause coughing after exposure to certain allergens such as viruses or bacteria. Allergies may also be triggered by being close to someone who is allergic.

5. Irritation

Cigarette smoke, vehicle fumes, and cooking fumes can interfere with the function of the respiratory system in babies. This factor can also be transferred from mother to baby so that it makes the baby allergic.
