When such food is consumed right before bedtime, it can cause problems. When the child sleeps, the acid content caused by these food products in the stomach flows back up from the esophagus and sometimes even down the throat.

ENT specialist pediatrician, Julie Wei, MD, said that the habit of every family to give milk to children before bedtime actually worsens their digestion.

“Drinking milk before bed will only cause the milk to coagulate and form lumps like yogurt, and it can flow back down the child’s throat. But drinking milk with sweet snacks is a very common nighttime and bedtime routine for American children,” he was quoted as saying. EverydayHealth.
