The rector of the UBU recognizes that he has felt disappointed with the Junta from Castilla y León for not having considered preferential essential personnel to receive the vaccine to university employees, as has been done with the rest of the educational system.

Manuel Pérez Mateos has reaffirmed the UBU’s commitment to the branch of Health Sciences with the creation of the future Center for Research on Emerging Pathogens and Global Health, whose activity will focus on aspects that have proven to be very relevant, such as the origin of pandemics such as the COVID-19. In fact, we want to deepen the collaboration with the hospital Mount Sinai from New York, where the virologist from Burgos works Adolfo García Sastre.

The rector of the UBU hopes to have funding for this research center of the recovery and resilience funds that will come to the government of Spain from Europe.

The University of Burgos has awarded this morning its highest institutional distinction, the University Medal, to the professionals of the public health of Burgos. This distinction has been awarded to doctors, nurses, orderlies, assistants, and cleaning and administration personnel in recognition of their dedication during the pandemic.

The act took place in the Patio de Comendadores of the Hospital del Rey. Rector Manuel Pérez Mateos presented the Burgos University Medal to the representatives of Primary Care and Hospital Care: Mónica Chicote de Miguel, manager of Primary Care of Burgos, and José María Romo Gil, manager of Hospital Care of the HUBU, Evaristo Arzalluz Ruiz, manager of the Santos Hospital Reyes de Aranda de Duero and Arsenio Vesga Hernando, manager of the Santiago Apóstol Hospital of Miranda de Ebro.
